ASVC Show 'Fantastic Plastic' 2013
Well folks, better late than never are the photos from across our annual show we hosted on the 1st September 2013.
Special thanks must go to The Motor Museum in Miniature for a good few of them and to our very own Marc and Shaun from the club.
Well the show started with the odd blip due to the last minute room re planning however all was soon ironed out. Apologies to anyone who was aggrieved but as live events go these things do sometimes happen without warning...such is life and lessons learnt!
Once doors opened we noted that within a forty minute period we had a rush on at the door at a rate of 1 per minute! Upon wind up and counting the figures we can safely say that attendance to this years show was 100% up on both the last two years which is great news for us and the traders!
This year we had all our usual traders along with a few new additions including Christopher Morris Books and Military Flash Patches who between them had many historical DVD's and books to select from, so certainly added something new to 2013. Both reported good takings as did all others with all asking to be booked in for next years show. Its also worth mentioning that Chris from IPMS was kept busy too with a good few joining the society so a worthwhile day's profit taken there also.
In addition to the traders, as you will be aware, we also this year supported the Charity Help for Heroes who we are pleased to say raised over £250 which is fantastic news so thanks goes to all for supporting them which I'm sure you will all agree is a very worthy cause!
As for clubs it was great to welcome many familiar faces and old friends. We also this year welcomed many new faces including Richard Griffiths who bought along his car collection and displayed next to the familiar face of Ian and Rod of The Motor Museum in Miniature. Once again you all did the hobby proud with many fantastic displays showing such a broad diversity of the modelling and truly living up to the show title of 'Fantastic Plastic'. On that note its a perfect time to once again congratulate Pensnett Modellers for winning best club stand for 2013, along with Steve Newton of IPMS Birmingham for his scratch built Paddle steamer which won best in show...truly remarkable! Not forgetting all the other competition winners of the day who also did themselves and the hobby proud with many fantastic and breathtaking models.
Anyway your probably itching to look at the 100+ photos so I will wrap up by finally thanking the ladies and gents for all the hard work in the kitchen, which due to the footfall was very busy! Thanks also goes to all those involved in setting up the hall on the Saturday and knocking down at the end, without you it could not have been done!
So until next year folks...which plans are already under way to add yet more...happy modelling!
