Abingdon Show 5th October - Adrian Reynolds
Abingdon show for those who don't know is only a few
minutes from Oxford so an early start was in order. On arrival, the show
organiser guided us to a separate area to unload and park up away from the main
customer parking area.
The show consisted of 3 halls and a competition room,
each hall had a mixture of clubs and vendors, it was surprising to find our club
was the most northerly. At 11 o'clock Shaun took his entries up to the
competition room and settled back eagerly awaiting the judging.
A big thank you should go to
Lorna for taking the pictures, a slight technical issue meant my camera was dead
upon arrival,,,,,, ok I caught the on/off switch when packing it!
With the local RAF base been just minutes up the road a
lot of visitors had a good knowledge of the models on show and a nice steady
stream of banter passed the time.
All too soon the afternoon drew to a close and the
awards were started, we had to wait a while as Shaun's were in the later
category's, to say he did well was an understatement.
1st place for his Africa Korps Diorama
along with 3rd for his Leopold Diorama
He also got a 2nd and 3rd place in the ships for his
Vosper and Fiber builds
Best of show was taken by a Lear jet, a nice change from
a military subject.
Another enjoyable show and a big thank you to Abingdon
for the warm welcome and a well organised show
