Fantastic Plastic 2015
On Saturday, September 5th members congregated at the Community Centre to prepare the venue for our 50th Anniversary Show. The committee would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended to help out.
Early Sunday morning saw members, traders and exhibitors arriving to set up the show. Traders included Form-U-Lay, Kits Kits, Mainly Military and Gideon Miniatures. There were kits for just about any interest - the only genre not seen when wandering around the stands was airliners. Of course, there were also many bargains to be found lurking near the club stands as well.
Speaking of clubs, several made the trip to give our show the atmosphere a good show requires. Thanks must go out to Pensnett, Universal Modelling Society, The Motor Museum in Miniature, Wolverhampton Modelling Club, Derby City, M.A.F.V.A., Nottingham M.A.F.V.A, Staffordshire Moorlands, Chester, Shropshire Scale Modellers, IPMS Kit Maker (Bulldogs), Roaring Replicars, and IPMS Wirral. The club would also like to thank the members of visiting clubs for the positive comments that were put on Facebook following the show.
After a slow start, plenty of quality models were entered into the competition giving the judges a hard time in several of the classes. The Best of Show award was very closely contested and it came to a difficult decision between Miha Cosic's '69 Camaro and Stephen Newton's Cobble. After a close vote the award went to Stephen's well detailed and atmospheric scratch built boat. A list of the award winners is provided below:

The best club display was awarded to Pensnett. Although they are a small club a very diverse display of high standard was presented for viewers to enjoy.
As usual our club display was on the stage. This year it was organised by classes which gave a well balanced presentation of the club's members' work. The tombola was expertly managed by Yvonne and proved to be very popular. Just next to the tombola was our 50th Anniversary Display that had a good mix of models and associated items from the past five decades of model building. The odd-shaped glass paint bottles drew lots of comments!
Very quickly an enjoyable day came to a close. The club would like to thank the members who stayed (of which there were several) afterwards to help break down the show and transport items back to the church hall.
