Paul Giles

Well it goes without saying that Paul must have the best eyesight than anyone in the club as he is the true King of Braille scale! Paul always manages to astonish members with the fine detail in his builds that only makes the mind boggle! He also hosts the discussion forum dedicated to 1/72 scale at Missing-Lynx.com.

About Paul

Q: How long have you been modelling?
A:  52 years

Q: What was your first ever model?
A: The famous Airfix BT-K Spitfire

Q: What's your favourite modelling subject?
A: Armour, at the moment more early WWII than late and I also do the odd Zinnfiguren

Q: Okay, so do you have a favourite tank?
A: My favourite tank is the PzKpfw IV, the only tank to start and finish WWII as a main battle tank.

Q: What's your preferred scale to build?
A: 1/72

Q: How long have you been a member of ASVC?
A: I first joined in 1969 I think and then went to University in 1971, I returned to the club about eight years ago

Q: What did you study at university?
A: I studied Botany

Q: What do you get out of modelling & being a member of ASVC?
A: I enjoy the camaraderie and general good natured atmosphere of the club, there is no pressure to produce amazing builds everyone is happy to see you actually make something and is very supportive.  I also enjoy representing the club at shows, it is a very enjoyable experience and you meet such a lot of nice people at the different venues.

Q: Finally, where do you do your modelling?
A: I usually model in the dining room whilst Barbara is watching TV (the TV is in the dining room, the sitting room is for sitting - Barbara's rules).   I am clearing the small box bedroom of accumulated rubbish and will use that for my airbrushing and finishing room.
